The Crossing

Getting from where one is to where they need to be is not always as easily said as done. In this dream I came to a field fully fenced round about. I felt compelled to climb over it and to cross the field to the other side. In my spirit, I knew that crossing the field represented my eternal destination; I had to get to the other side. Had it not been for the contents of that field, crossing would have been a simple task; however, there was a hesitation on my part. Fear might better describe what I was experiencing for the field was full of wild beasts and entering the field would mean certain death without some form of protection and I had none, or so I thought.

The Spirit of the Lord prompted me to move forward, He told me He would be my protection and that I had nothing to fear. I struggled with self-preservation and at the same time knowing that if I did not enter the field and cross to the other side; I would not reach my eternal home. Again, He spoke to my heart; “Don’t be afraid, you have My protection.”

Then it was like an unseen shield, cylinder in shape, surrounded me, it was the Spirit of the Lord. Reassured by His protection, I climbed over the fence and began walking across the field. Beasts, demonic and vile, would come toward me as if to attack, I wanted to run, flee for my life… but instead of harming me, they would come only so far, then turn because they sensed the presence of the Lord, my Shield… Of course, they could not see it, but I knew the beasts feared the Shield, the presence of God. They ran from it as if recognizing its source and power (the battle is not mine, it is the Lord’s) Now I understood what King David knew as he faced many seemingly insurmountable foes.

My confidence grew as I went further and further across the field. The beasts continued to attack and as before turn from the presence of the Lord’s protection over me. At last, I reached the other side of the field and felt that my journey was complete. I was greeted by others that had walked through similar fields, attacked on every side by the enemy of their souls, yet victorious by the Blood of the Lamb. They too had overcome their fears and trusted the Lord to be their buckler and shield. What a joyous reunion it was… Perfect Love had cast out all fear and we had entered into His rest.

In this life there will be tribulation (Matt 6:33) but we have a very present help in times of trouble, One that sticks closer than a brother, Jesus Christ, my Shield, Protector, Strong Tower. What a powerful revelation to have, knowing we don’t have to go through our trials alone; He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Be encouraged and KNOW He is there for you, even when you don’t see or feel Him, you have His word on it.
