Light or Darkness

How many days will this rain continue to fall? It had rained for a full week and I was becoming restless. Outside work was out of the question, it was simply too wet. Consoling myself with my morning coffee, I saw the gray clouds moving slowly overhead. A ray of sunlight began to show through the rain filled clouds… then another till at last the Lake was turned from a dark, dingy green or gray, to a brilliant indigo blue; a mirror of the now blue sky that appeared over the waters.

What a transformation? What a difference the sunlight had made in the day… the darkness was broken by the first ray of light and banished by the full force of the sun. I was in awe of the revelation. Thank you Lord for the sunshine, I spoke aloud…

Then, as if wishing to tell me there is more to what I had seen, the Lord spoke to my heart saying “Yes, the sun is shining in many different parts of the world today, but till the SON shines in man’s heart, there will always be darkness.”

As much as I loved the beauty of the sun and the hope for the day that it brought, the troubling truth was, until His Son Jesus was the light of man’s heart, darkness would still prevail in the lives of people… I spoke again, “Thank you Lord that the Light of your Son resides in my heart… and prayed, equip me to share Your light with a darkened world that they too might see the beauty of Your love and embrace the glory of Your coming.

Light or Darkness, the choice is ours… Choose the Light of the World and never be held captive by the Darkness of an eternity without God.
